Job Title: Protection Assistant – GBV

Project Overview
  • UNHCR, National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) are leading the refugee response effort in Nigeria to ensure that Cameroonian refugees receive protection and assistance. Response efforts are delivered under the overall leadership of the host government and alongside the Refugee Coordination Model.
  • The conflict in north-east Nigeria has resulted in widespread displacement, violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, protection risks and a deepening humanitarian crisis.
  • The crisis continues to uproot the lives of thousands of children, women, and men and is adding to the long history of marginalization and chronic under-development. In the three most affected states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe, 7.7 million people need humanitarian assistance, more than 50 percent of whom are children. In areas recently retaken by the government, vulnerable host populations are in critical need of humanitarian interventions including food, water, sanitation, protection, education, shelter, and health services.
Job Descriptions
  • The candidate will provide psychosocial support activities at one of the safe spaces.
  • Under the supervision of Protection Coordinator, the Protection Assistant will manage all activities related to SGBV / PSS at their assigned field site.
Minimum Requirement Standards
  • BA / BS in SGBV / PSS or similar degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience in SGBV and PSS with a sound understanding of protection in humanitarian relief settings.
  • Possession of an MPH or postgraduate degree in a related field is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the Nigerian law enforcement system and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable.

Job Title: Community Mobilization Assistant

Job Description
  • Community Mobilization Assistant will support the Community Mobilization Officer (CMO) to ensure effective mobilization and engagement with communities for successful campaigns aimed at expanding access to health & nutrition and training.
  • The CMA will also support the development and implementation of community-driven approaches to treatment and care and facilitating stronger linkages and partnerships between the public health sector and civil society groups.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Sociology, Community Development, Social Work and Social Administration or Social Sciences; and
  • Must be computer literate (MS Office Packages / Internet);
  • Competency and skills in community engagement and understanding of Nutrition, health and gender issues; sensitivity to cultural differences, and understanding of political and ethical issues
  • Ability to work well with others, develop and maintain compatibility among recipients of assistance.
  • Minimum three (3) years working experience with INGOs, NGOs and/or CBOs.

  • Health & Financing Officer will provide technical and programmatic support to implement high-quality care and support activities with primary focus on clinical management of integrated medical services at the LGA level will also provide day to day technical and programmatic support related nutritional and integrated medical services at the facility level guided by strategies and approaches related to the implementation programs.
Minimum Requirements
  • MBBS / MD / Ph.D. or similar degree with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in clinical care with a sound understanding of humanitarian integrated health program delivery in resource-constrained settings.
  • Possession of an MPH or postgraduate degree in a related field is required.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian public health sector systems and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable.

  • Candidates will provide programmatic and operational support in one of the four field sites.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the caseworker will engage clients including appropriate capture of the SGBV survivors’ stories, needs and concerns, and comprehensive communication on available services.
Minimum Requirement Standards
  • BA / BS in Social with 1 to 2 years’ relevant experience in SGBV and PSS with a sound understanding of protection in humanitarian relief settings.
  • Possession of an MPH or postgraduate degree in social work is desired.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian law enforcement systems and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable
